Amber Gates

(PMHNP-BC, Nurse Practioner)

I am proud to be joining this dynamic team that is dedicated to expanding the mental health services in our community. I have worked in many roles in my time in the medical field. I spent 7 years working in the Emergency Departments in the Springs. I loved the ever changing environment and this is where I saw a need for expanded care in our community. I graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015 through CSU Pueblo and worked in primary care as well as urgent care. I saw that so many were still in need of mental health care and returned to school to pursue my Post-Masters certificate in Psychiatry through the University of Texas. My first 3 years were spent in private practice, focusing on the needs of our first responders. I am looking forward to joining with Lokiten Behavioral Health in the Intensive Outpatient Program by offering medication management services.

My philosophy in care is that my role is to listen, offer options that are safe and effective, as well as listening to your priorities. I consider myself a partner in your care and ultimately you make the decision in what will serve you best. I do not believe that it is a one way relationship, working together to find the right fit for you is my priority.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my high school sweetheart, our two kids who are grown, but not quite flown from the nest and our many animals. We love to travel together and make memories along the way.
